Position Description
This position is responsible to plan, direct, and manage a staff of Technical Writers, Technical Illustrators and Labeling Specialists with responsibility for labeling
R&D and sustaining activities including the creation of new labeling, labeling systems maintenance, language localization and changes to labeling ensuring Quality System regulations are met.
Sr. Manager of Technical Communications job responsibilities include:
- Lead the development and execution of global labeling strategies including but not limited to global labeling system deployment, content management systems, ELabeling and global alignment of labeling roles and responsibilities.
- Manage the processing, releasing and updating of product labeling process with MFG Operations and Document Control departments ensuring timeline commitments are met.
- Manage the authoring of new or revised product manuals, service documentation, and quick-reference materials for assigned products, ensuring the input and approval from all relevant functional areas with appropriate annotation and supporting documentation is obtained.
- Work collaboratively with other global labeling functions to establish best in class labeling systems and content management tools to ensure consistent & efficient processes.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s Degree with emphasis in communications, technical writing, or related fields.
- Minimum of 10 years technical writing experience. 5 to 7 years experience in a leadership role of Technical Writers & Technical Labeling Specialists is desired.
- Effective leadership skills to provide overall guidance and direction for department.
- Excellent verbal communications, written communications and editing skills; Strong organizational skills
- Knowledge of FDA Quality System Regulation, ISO 13485, Medical Device Directive requirements and FDA’s UDI regulation.
